Comics

Found
Manoel Magalhães and I collaborated on a 21-page comic for David Lloyd’s Aces Weekly. The comic (Found) is scheduled to appear in the May 29, 2017 edition of Aces Weekly.

The Grim Collection
This online endeavour is horror / thriller comics written by me and drawn by others. The Web site also features short fiction by me in the same genre. The Grim Collection launched in 2014. The Grim Collection returned in 2015. Published to date: Cutter’s Reward , Dark Art, The Draw of Memories, Orphan, Tea Time, On the Other Side of the Bridge, The Dig, Undiscovered, and Those Who Devour. The most recent was published on July 31, 2016. Two new comic are currently being developed for The Grim Collection: Glen (thriller) and an untitled horror comic both should be published in 2017.

Synchronicity
Based on an original idea by Manoel Magalhães, Synchronicity is a 128-page science fiction graphic novel. Osmarco Valladao did colors. Manoel, Osmarco and I are credited as co-creators. We shopped this graphic novel to publishers from 2011 to 2013, had no takers, but at the end of 2016 Synchronicity started to appear on Social Comics in serialized form.

Song’s End
This 6-page comic is set during the American Civil War. It appeared in the December 2011 edition of IF-X. The theme of that edition was “West”. Art by Adam Sward and lettering by E.T. Dollman.

Friar & Brimstone
When Owen Gieni and I started working on this comedy Web comic in 2010 it was called Fire & Brimstone. It was put on hold when Owen landed a gig with Image Comics, but the project came back to life in October 2011. It was rebranded Friar & Brimstone and launched on Keenspot in December 2011. It then went back on hold in 2012. In 2014, Owen and I started talking about finishing it. We hope to do so. You can read what we did at http://friarandbrimstone.keenspot.com/.

Assassin & Son: Path of Vengeance
I was hired to bring WWE superstar Shad Gaspard’s vision to life in the form of a 256-page action-packed comic event. The script was approved at the end of August 2010. Art, letters, colors and cover art production began in the latter part of 2010. Assassin & Son: Path of Vengeance was scheduled to be published by Blackline Comics. I saw some finished pages but to the best of my knowledge the artwork was never finished and the graphic novel never published.

Colonel
This 56-page science fiction graphic novel was created by Manoel Magalhaes and Osmarco Valladao. I served as editor, massaging dialogue, correcting grammar, etc, as a favor to Manoel and Osmarco, for whom English is not their first language. The graphic novel was completed in June 2010. In 2011, we shopped it around to North American publishers but got no takers. In 2012, Colonel was published in Brazil.

Acts of Violence: An Anthology of Crime Comics / “The Three Princes”
The anthology Acts of Violence was put together by Ed Brisson. It launched at the Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle in March 2010. It was available through Diamond Comics Distributors. We also took it to various conventions. My 30-page crime story “The Three Princes” appeared in the anthology. The story was illustrated by Manoel Magalhães and lettered by Ed Brisson.

The Thunderchickens
The Thunderchickens was an all-ages comic about a family of superheroic chickens. It was originally conceived for DC Comics’ Zuda competition. It was written by me and drawn by William Dean Blakenship Jr. (3!LL). I am no longer involved with The Thunderchickens.

Special Edition
I was one of the writers bringing artist 3!LL’s stories to life in the Special Edition project. The print edition of Season 1 was available at IndyPlanet. I’ve wrote three comics:

  • “Ghost of the Skid”, which was published online in June 2009, and appeared in the first Special Edition print collection.
  • “Bell Hill Beast Intro”, which was published online in December 2009.
  • “Charity”, which was scheduled to be published in 2010 as part of Special Edition Season 2, which never saw the light of day.

Black Salt: The Last Heroes Left #1 – #6
I was hired by Owen Ratliff (Ratti Entertainment) to adapt his motion picture screenplay into comic form. Black Salt #1 – #4 were completed and were available online at DriveThruComics.com and mydigitalcomics.com. Scripts for issues #5 – #6 were written and approved in the latter half of 2010, but to the best of my knowledge neither comic was ever drawn and released.

Psychosis: Writer / Creator
I wrote this 96-page graphic novel. I also assembled a creative team and financed its creation. It was completed in early 2007. After shopping it around to a few publishers I decided to self-publish it through http://www.lulu.com. I also had some copies printed. Those sold out in 2007 and I never put it back into print.
